MKP-Heartland
In 2001, a miracle happened. Four men from Topeka and Wichita who had been initiated into MKP decided to move to Kansas City and start a center. These four self-multiplied to a small crowd who had the audacity to think they could stage a New Warrior Training Adventure. With help from sister communities in Sioux City and St. Louis, the weekend came off stunningly.
It was held at a Campfire-USA campsite North of Kansas City called Camp Shawnee That was in 2002. In 2003, the community decided to hold two weekends. One didn’t fill and has been our only cancellation in 8 years. Since 2005, we have been holding two weekends a year. In addition, we have been holding fund-raising events, leadership workshops and social gatherings. Over 300 men have been initiated at Camp Shawnee and the numbers keep growing.
